Our Story

Founded in 2004, La Paz on Foot offers a diverse range of walks, hikes, treks, and tours in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. Specializing in the natural and cultural history of this fascinating region, La Paz on Foot designs responsible travel activities in La Paz and beyond, from half-day Urban Treks to multi-day cross-country treks and cultural tours. Now operated by the local operator Sendas Altas, we are a diverse group of locals entranced by the natural and cultural history of the Central Andes and convinced that carefully operated travel and ecotourism experiences can contribute to sustainable development in our region. As we have grown over the years, we have engaged with a wonderfully creative and committed cast of characters who all share a common passion – providing high-quality, responsible travel experiences in the Andean region for visitors from around the world.

Tomas Sivila

Co-owner & General Manager

Tomas Sivila

Tomas Sivila is Co-owner and General Manager of La Paz on Foot. Born in Oruro and a geologist by training, he has worked in tourism since 2005 when he returned to Bolivia after living for many years in Germany. Stephen Taranto

Co-owner & Programs Director

Stephen Taranto

Stephen Taranto is from Virginia, USA and has lived in La Paz since 2003. An ecologist by training and an outdoorsman by nature, he relocated to Bolivia after completion of his Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Ecology at the University of Florida. Stephen develops many of La Paz on Foot’s programs and these days spends too much time at the computer making sure our websites are up and running and our clients are happy.

Rita Delgado

Office Administrator

Rita Delgado

Rita Delgado is our Administrator and has worked with us since 2005. Born and raised in Oruro, Rita loves Carnival and the traditional music and dances of Bolivia. For the past ten years she has lived in La Paz, the seat of Bolivia’s government and its most important (and chaotic) city. Rita is responsible for La Paz on Foot’s administrative and financial management.

Carlos Revollo

Travel Specialist

Carlos Revollo

Carlos Revollo has been providing customer service and operations support for La Paz on Foot since 2011. Born in Oruro, Carlos speaks fluent Spanish, English and German, having lived in Germany for more than 10 years. Before joining our office, Carlos worked for many years as a tour coordinator in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. In his free time he enjoys playing with his son Samuel and dancing to traditional Andean music.

Camila Rojas

I was born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia. I studied tourism at university and what I love the most about my career is the opportunity to reconnect with my historical and cultural roots through organizing trips all around Bolivia. In my free time I like going to local concerts and I really enjoy going for day-hikes. I will be happy to assist you in your next Bolivian destination.

Milenka Omireis

Milenka is from the city of Potosí and grew up in La Paz, where she studied tourism at San Andres University. She has worked with La Paz on Foot since 2014 and enjoys sharing the rich cultural and natural history of Bolivia and the Andes with visitors from near and far.

I was born and grew up in the fascinating city of La Paz and studied tourism at university. I love Bolivia and sharing its wonders with visitors and enjoy travelling and searching for new experiences whenever I can. During my free time, I enjoy photography, having a good cup of coffee with friends and playing with my little son Daniel. I will be happy to help you organize your dreamed trip around Bolivia and its surroundings!

Conni Ballesteros

My name is Consuelo Ballesteros, I was born in La Paz – Bolivia, currently I live in La Paz city
captivated by the beautiful mountains, food and people of this place. One of my great passions is
visit new and natural places besides swimming. As my country has cultural and natural wealth, I
decided to study tourism to be able to promote and make known all the tourist attractions of my
country. I worked as a tour guide, in hotels and air tickets, currently I work as a tour operator in
Sendas Altas – La Paz on Foot.

Rosely Ulloa

Rosely Ulloa

Rosely was born and raised in the wonder city La Paz. She studied Tourism and Hotel
Administration at the University Central (UNICEN). She enjoys travel and likes the dances of the
south of Bolivia, in her free time she loves share with her family and friends. Now is part of the
Sendas Altas – La Paz on Foot team.

Daniela Rodrigo

Daniela Rodrigo

I am Daniela Rodrigo Aramayo tourism guide for more than 15 years, I studied at Catholic
University San Pablo where I have a higher technical degree, and a degree from the San Francisco
Xavier University of Chuquisaca. My last course was a certified Intercultural Guide awarded by
Studienkreis für tourimus und Entwicklung e.V. in March 2019.
The languages I speak are French and English. As my hobbies I have Yoga meditation (Sahaja Yoga),
reading and embroidery. I belong to ASOGUIATUR and FEBOGUID associations.

David Quecaña

David Quecaña

My name is David Quecaña, I was born in the city of La Paz, I studied Tourism at the Universidad
Mayor de San Andres, I have been working as a tourism guide for 15 years developing in cultural
and adventure tourism. Thanks to my job I was able to know the beauty of my country and show
Bolivia to visitors.

Naira Sandoval

Naira Sandoval

She is a guide and Tour Conductor since 2014 in the French and English language. Andean textile
specialist, lover of trekking in the mountains, yoga, travel and meeting new people. She has his
micro-company of Textile Design and Recycling (Upcycling) which sells in different cities of Bolivia
and in Cusco. Her brand is called Zafar Textile and Recycling.

Susanne Sivila

Susanne Sivila

My name is Susanne Sivila. I am from Oruro and I am a biologist and I have more than 10 years of
experience as a tour guide. During my work as a guide and biologist, I had the opportunity to know
Bolivia and South America from the social, cultural and natural aspects. I really enjoy traveling and
outdoor activities like trekking, rock climbing and now I found a new hobby with my daughter that
is bird watching and registration in the La Paz valley.
