Sajama National Park 2-day

SAJAMA PROTECTED AREA 2-DAY

DURATION: 2 days

DISTANCE FROM LA PAZ: 4.5 hours on paved road

DIFFICULTY*: 4-5

COMBINES WELL WITH: Uyuni, Reserva Eduardo Avaroa, San Pedro de Atacama

If you are short of time but determined to see Bolivia's highest peak (while soaking in some of the most beautiful thermal waters you've ever seen!), this is the Sajama trip for you.

The road to Sajama is in good condition and the landscapes along the way, especially as you get closer to Sajama, are dramatic. Sajama itself is in an amazing setting, jutting skyward out of a vast plain of fragrant t'ola bushes dotted with lakes and in the distance twin smoking volcanoes. Throw in giant herds of llamas, alpacas, vicunas and flocks of flamingos and you are good to go!

While at the protected area you lodge with a local family and have time for two shortish hikes around the village and up towards the magnificent peak of Sajama.
